To All members
It is with deep regret that I announce to you the passing of
Hanshi William Dometrich, one of the pioneers of North American karate, and the
head of the US Chito-Ryu karate federation. Dometrich Sensei started karate
directly after world war two in Japan, and has been instrumental in the
development of karate throughout North America. Our deepest sympathies go out
to the Dometrich family, and all of his direct students.

Congratulations KNB Team Members

Karate New
Brunswick would like to congratulate all the athletes and coaches for their
participation at the recent National Karate Championships in Vancouver BC, this
last week. Aside from the amazing accomplishments of Miss Kate Campbell, Yashna
Hathi, fighting for the first time in 18-20, and as an adult took an impressive
4th place finish. Being the first time for double elimination, our athletes did
a very good job winning and losing fights. Their drive and dedication will make
them all champions in the future. Members of the provincial team were: Athletes
Katie Campbell, (Co-captain) Yashna Hathi, Kyle Sprague (Co-captain), Gabriel
Cyr, Jasiah Gates, Hillary Pond, Samantha Parsons, Erik Flanders. Coaches: Paul
Oliver, Oscar leger, Wendy Oliver Acting manager: Neil Pond Athletes Gabriel
Gates and Aaron Granger had to withdraw prior from the nationals due to
injuries. The team missed both seasoned athletes, especially Mr. Gates, who has
been representing New Brunswick every year since he was 14, and along with
Katie Campbelll is a current member of Canada's national team. I would like to
thank on behalf of the team, the Coaches for all their hard work &
dedication to the athletes, and Sensei Neil Pond for all his help with the
team.
Respectfully, Paul
Oliver KNB president

success at the Canadian National Karate Championships held in Vancouver BC this

additionally the silver medalist in the -55kg. category. The success of her
accomplishments were highlighted by the fact that she defeated 3 other weight

for the first time, dropped down a weight category to compete in the -55kg.
where she lost the gold to two time winner Vanessa Restrepo of Ontario. We are
very, very proud of Kate, as she sets the mark for female athletes in this
country.
