National Coaching Certification Program |
 |
The NCCP
program as it is called, was developed for karate by the Coaching Association
of Canada [CAC] in conjunction with the National Karate Association, &
Sport Canada. All government funded and recognized sports within Canada are
required to develop a program that displays all the rudimentary skills &
knowledge to Coach [Teach] their respective sports, safely & properly.
Karate New Brunswick not only implemented the NCCP Program, but felt that it
was mandatory for all Dojo instructors to be certified in order to teach Karate
within the Province.
The basic level 1 NCCP Karate
consist of 3 separate parts. Theory 1, which is sports general & is taught
specifically by theory instructors. This segment is approx. 14 hours in length.
Secondly comes Technical 1, which is specific to all Karate styles, is 14 hours
in length, & is taught by KNB's Master Course Conductor. [Sensei Paul
Oliver]. Last comes Practical 1, which is 20 hours of application of the
Technical Course, as monitored by the KNB Course Conductor. When an individual
has completed all 3 phases, they will be certified as a NCCP Level 1 Coach, as
per recognition by the CAC.
The NCCP program is open
to all registered members of Karate New Brunswick, who are a brown belt or
higher, and who is at least 16 years of age. Full recognition is given to an 18
year old Black Belt, whereas Assistant coach [Junior] is a brown or Black Belt
who is under 18 years of age. Those not meeting full recognition, will
automatically become so when they attain the proper requirements. [l 8 years
& Black belt]. All Brown & Black belts have learned a vast amount of
