Oliver's History

Kancho, which translates
to the head of the House, or most senior belt, is the title that Oliver Sensei
assumes. Oliver Sensei started training Chito-Ryu karate in 1972-73 under
Sensei Robert Mcinnes in Hampton N.B. In 1977 he attained his Shodan, under
Tsuruoka & Higashi Senseis. In 1980 - Nidan from Higashi Sensei, 1982 -
Sandan from O'Sensei Chitose, 1990 -Yondan from Soke Chitose, 1993-Shidoin
Title from Higashi Sensei, 1997-Shihan Title from Soke Chitose, 2001-Godan from
Soke Chitose, 2002-NKA-Godan from NKA Technical Committee.
During his Karate career, Oliver Sensei has been a 10
time Grand Champion of New Brunswick, 10 time NKA Team member, and past NKA
Middleweight champion, as well as World Chito-Ryu Champion in 1995. For the
past 15 years he has been coaching Provincially, Nationally, and
Internationally. Oliver Sensei has made four trips to Japan over a 20-year
period, training with O'Sensei Chitose, and Soke Sensei, as well as many other
Senior Kyoshi's during these visits. Oliver Sensei has
had to be involved in the organizational side of karate for many years, and has
served as a member of KNB Board & Technical Committee for 20 years, as well
as being the provincial Coach for 15 years. He currently serves his third year
as President. Additionally, Oliver Sensei was the founding president of
Chito-Ryu New Brunswick, as well as a 12 year member of the CCRKA Board.
Oliver Sensei now brings his years of experience, as well
as the experience & support of Senseis Paul Jimmo & Laurie Roy, to form
Shintora-Kai.
