SAFE SPORT

Safe Sport provides a framework to ensure that everyone in the sport of karate is able to enjoy the sport. Players, coaches, officials and volunteers have the right to participate in a safe and inclusive environment that is free of maltreatment including abuse, harassment and discrimination.

The policies are intended to promote a Safe Sport environment in a manner that allows for consistent, immediate, appropriate, and meaningful action should any issues arise, but also to prevent issues from arising in the first place by communicating expected standards of behaviour.

Screening Requirements

Level 1

  • Parents, youth or volunteers acting in non-regular or informal basis

  • Complete a Screening Disclosure Form

Level 2

  • Non-coach managers

  • Directors

  • Coaches who are typically under supervision of another coach

  • Officials

Requirements

  • Complete a Screening Disclosure Form

  • Criminal Record Check

  • Making Ethical Decisions (Coaches)

  • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders (National Officials)

Level 3

  • Full-time coaches

  • Coaches who travel with Athletes

  • Coaches who could be alone with Athletes
